Grief can come crashing in like waves and when they do, it can be defeating feeling like they aren’t getting “better”. 

Recognize that their emotions may be intense, and be sensitive to the possibility that certain topics or experiences might trigger their grief. Keep showing up, even if they seem to be doing well on the surface. Some days may be harder than others and your loving consistency is vital.
